PBS TV NOVA science NOW:

What Will the Future Be Like?

….. (Kreskin – an example)

PBS’s current NOVA episode deals with futuristic, almost sci-fi like advances. The viewer is presented with a machine that somehow is able to x-ray a person’s brain, observing the flow of blood, and therefore judging which of the list of items the subject of the test prefers. They are implying it is a mind-reading machine. In references made to The Amazing Kreskin, a scene is included from his legendary television series The Amazing World of Kreskin. In a scene that they show, we see that Kreskin is reading the thoughts of an individual in his studio audience.

When interviewed, one of the scientists involved with the project remarks that if a machine is ever developed where all of man’s thoughts would be revealed all the time, lying would cease in our culture. My comment is that this is a stupid, asinine, imbecilic, pathetic remark that shows that scientists do not necessarily have a grasp on the reality of human life and behavior. With almost no privacy in existence in modern culture, we are left with one feature that man can consider priceless…his own inner thoughts.

Using The Amazing Kreskin as an example, the speculation is that a machine may someday be developed to accomplish the same thing that Kreskin exhibits.

I predict that if the day ever comes when all of man’s thoughts are clearly accessible all the time, aside from the violence it will initiate, it will be the beginning of the collapse of modern civilization. Clearly, it will be the beginning of the end.
