Kreskin’s Legendary Check Test….his 11th Failure During Kreskin’s 3 week Off Broadway run at the Lion Theatre, West 42nd Street in NYC, he of course is including his legendary Check Test, within the 2 hour performance. On Saturday, April 14th, before a sold out audience, he turned a signed agreement regarding his fee for the evening, over to a committee of strangers gathered from the audience. While Kreskin was taken out of the theater and guarded, that committee hid his check anywhere within the theater auditorium. As is understood when he returned, he would attempt to locate the hidden agreement without any questions being asked on his part and simple relying on the concentration of the committee. Failure would mean he would relinquish the money due him for the evening. Kreskin failed to find his fee Saturday evening. It is only the 11th time in his career, in which he’s done this test well over 6,000 times. Since this 3 week run was arranged by the Kreskin Company, instead of returning a check as a result of his failure, Kreskin has made it clear that all the profits from the evening’s ticket sales will be donated to a charity. Because of his love of animals, he is considering turning it over to an animal shelter. Background on the incident: The drama of Kreskin’s failure left his audience that night largely insisting that he was successful, even though Kreskin could not fully agree to such. It turns out the committee had hidden the check and before deciding to have him bought back into the theater, they changed their minds and hid it in another location. When Kreskin came back into the theatre he kept getting mental impressions that drew him to the original location, he kept returning to it.
